The History of Absolutely Fitness Group

Absolutely Leisure was formed as a wholly owned charitable subsidiary of Slough Community Leisure (SCL) in 2008 and consisted of one kart track and an ice rink. By 2014 this had expanded further to include four gyms – Slough, Bracknell, Langley, and Richings Park – Herschel Sports Centre, a ten-pin bowling alley, and three kart tracks.

SCL was formed to run the sporting and leisure facilities owned by Slough Borough Council but soon expanded and Absolutely Leisure was founded.

In 2013 budget gyms were becoming a thing in a big way and corporate gym chains were growing rapidly. Absolutely Fitness’ core vision was to go toe to toe with the likes of ‘pure gym’, ‘EasyGym’, and ‘The Gym Group’ while staying true to ourselves as a charity that provides affordable leisure facilities and helps families of children with disabilities in local communities

Slough Community Leisure had already opened a budget gym that had moderate success. However, at ‘Absolutely Fitness’ we decided we could go one better, and doubled the size of this gym, opening a brand new site in Bracknell, and took on a dual use contract at Langley college all in the same year. Ambitious for a small charity. However, we pulled it off as in the first few weeks of opening we had record people coming in and getting fitter in our facilities.
