Our guide to staying in shape on holiday

Love Island is once again gracing our screens and bringing with it mounds of drama that everyone seems to love to hate! This year there’s more love triangles than ever before and it seems like there’s no head that can’t be turned. But being a gym, what we’ve noticed is how, despite being on the holiday of a life time for 6 weeks, all islanders seem to manage to remain in shape.

After working hard for months in the run up to a summer holiday, not letting that slip on holiday is always really difficult. So to help you this summer, the team at Absolutely Fitness have pulled together some top tips to maintaining fitness on holiday.

1. Make the most of the hotel facilities

As you may have noticed, on Love Island the villa has a very small gym which seems to get a lot of use. If you’re staying in a hotel, most of them will have at least a swimming pool. So try and maintain your fitness goals by going for a morning gym or swim. It might feel like a lot of effort, but you’ll be left feeling better than ever.

Some hotels even have sports and activities on during the day, so if you fancy a game of beach volleyball or water polo, every little helps.

2. Walk where you can

Whether you’re on a beach holiday or city break, unlike the Love Island contestants this year, it’s doubtful that you’ll be staying in your accommodation all week, so if you’re out and about try and walk. It might not seem like the biggest challenge, but every step adds up and you might end up walking miles. It’s also a great way to see a new place and take in your surroundings.

3. Try out some fitness on the beach

If you’re on a beach holiday then why not enjoy some beach activities, there’s sure to be something that will tickle your fancy. Whether its beach yoga, a run along the promenade, a swim in the open ocean or even a surf lesson, there’s plenty of activities you can get involved with on the beach. They’re all so fun it might not even feel like you’re working out!
